Doctoral training
The Doctoral School, according to the decree of May 25, 2016, establishing the national training framework and the modalities leading to the delivery of the national doctoral diploma, offers a whole training program to prepare its doctoral students in their research work.

To be able to defend their thesis, doctoral students must complete 100 hours of university training. This training can be carried out within the doctoral school, Paris-Cité University, or in any other university setting (doctoral students living in the provinces or abroad) upon presentation of a certificate of attendance.
This doctoral training includes seminars that are organized each year from January to June, mainly on Mondays and Tuesdays. Details of the seminars can be found in the teaching modules tab.
THE OBLIGATIONS OF DOCTORAL TRAINING FOR ALL DOCTORAL STUDENTS
- Attend 100 hours of doctoral training
- Attend at least 20 hours of training offered by the doctoral school (doctoral students under joint supervision, in the provinces and abroad)
- Attend a module of the “Ethics and Scientific Integrity” seminars
- Take training in English (offered by the doctoral school or covered by the exemption arrangements)
- Attend at least 3 doctoral school scientific days (doctoral school days)
TRANSITIONAL MEASURES
Doctoral students in joint supervision
- They must ensure training in their home university of an equivalent hourly volume
- Attend at least 20 hours of training offered by the doctoral school
- Attend a module of the “Ethics and scientific integrity” seminars at Université Paris Cité or the partnered university
- Attend an English course (offered by the doctoral school or covered by the exemption arrangements) at Université Paris Cité or the partnered university
- Attend at least 3 doctoral school scientific days (doctoral school days)
Doctoral students living outside Ile-de-France
- Attend the “Publication Strategy” and “Professional Integration” seminaries
- Attend at least 20 hours of training offered by the doctoral school
- Attend a module of the “Ethics and scientific integrity” seminars at Université Paris Cité or the partnered university
- Attend an English course (offered by the doctoral school or covered by the exemption arrangements) at Université Paris Cité or the partnered university
- Attend at least 3 doctoral school scientific days (doctoral school days)
Doctoral students living abroad
- They must ensure a university education in their country
- Attend the “Publication Strategy” and “Professional Integration” seminaries
- Attend at least 20 hours of training offered by the doctoral school
- Attend a module of the “Ethics and scientific integrity” seminars at Université Paris Cité or the partnered university
- Attend an English course (offered by the doctoral school or covered by the exemption arrangements) at Université Paris Cité or the partnered university
- Attend at least 3 doctoral school scientific days (doctoral school days)
TERMS OF EXEMPTIONS
Disciplinary English seminars
- Presentation of a test (TOEFL, TOEIC, etc.), C1 level, or a diploma obtained in an English-speaking country.
- Proof of long-term stay in an English-speaking country, with professional experience including the use of English.
- Participate in a 12-hour English course in a language center or other university (especially for joint or provincial students).
Occupational integration
- Present a copy of an employment contract (full-time in the field of psychology only).
Please note: All supporting documents must be sent to the doctoral school for validation. If you are excused from one of the seminars offered by the doctoral school, the hours of this seminar cannot be counted.
